General Objective:
Enhancing ecological sustainability in the mountainous regions of the Western Balkans by mitigating the negative impact of outdoor sports through the engagement of outdoor recreation enthusiasts.
Specific Objectives:
- Assess the current solid waste issue on mountain trails in the Western Balkans by conducting experiments and analyses on trails across four partner countries.
- Develop and promote the PICK ONE LEAVE NONE principles—simple and safe methods for waste collection.
- Introduce key stakeholders in the outdoor sports sector to the PICK ONE LEAVE NONE approach.
- Evaluate the effects of implementing the PICK ONE LEAVE NONE principles through comprehensive experiments and analyses on mountain trails in four partner countries.
- Raise awareness among a large number of outdoor sports enthusiasts about the environmental impact of recreational hiking and other outdoor sports on marked and maintained nature trails.
- Establish a network of organizations from four European countries, fostering connections and promoting ecological sustainability in outdoor sports.
